The Best Prescription For Anxiety and Depression… Is Written on a Hot Pink Sticky Note!

I see and hear you everyday if you are experiencing feelings of hopelessness, fear, sadness, emptiness, loneliness, tiredness, unhappy, feeling uncomfortable in your own skin… If that sounds like you then you are suffering with Anxiety and Depression. Good News! It’s not disease. You can feel better without medication in a really short period of time.

I will admit I am by nature and likely biologically an optimistic individual. Which in my personal opinion makes me good at being a Licensed Professional Counselor. My client’s do not hire me to cry with them they hire me to help them stop crying.

Crying is a very important emotion but when we can control our emotions. We feel better. it moves us forward…to a happier, and more joyful life and future.

You wouldn’t know this based on my past blogs, because I like to keep things light but the reality is 97.5% of the individuals I see for “Life Counseling” involves some form of problems related to Anxiety and Depression.

I find it interesting that many of my new client’s immediately blurt out first thing that they do not want anymore medication!!!

I can diagnose you with a problem if you haven’t already done so yourself, but I can not prescribe you anything other than the skill of controlling your thoughts. I write my prescriptions out at the end of all my sessions on a hot pink sticky pad. You can choose to take it or not. Do it or don’t.

But all my clients do really great. Watching an individual walk in my office the next week with a spring in their step and excited about telling me how they achieved it is to the best part of my day.

It’s amazing how quickly individuals can gain hope, excitement, joy,self-esteem, weight loss, ..one client told me after our second session you have made me believe that “I am a black pencil skirt and nude stilletos.”

That was her Mantra. Not mine. And she owned it 110%.

My professional goal as a counselor is to rarely have a individual visit me after the 4th session. If you don’t need to see me anymore I feel immensely sucessful. I got you to the point that you can do the rest on your own. You got this!

My goal is to help you reach yours in as little time as possible..because I don’t want you to keep missing out on all the fun Life has left to give you.

We all have ups and downs in life. Sometimes you just need a different prescription to help you remember what you love and want from life. I help people remember or start to find and achieve the joy they crave. We want to be something, do something, be apart of something better than ourselves and we are starving for it. Your normal. We all feel the same way at some point in our lives.

You do not have to be sad and you do not always have to take medication. Medication will never cheer you up or give you hope for a brighter future.
