Chesie considers herself to be blessed to be able to work in a profession that she truly loves and feels passionate about.  She has worked in the mental health/substance abuse field for 10 years, in the State of Alabama. Because of Chesie’s extensive education, training, and experience in the field of substance abuse/addictions/mental health, she has been a recurring presenter at The Annual Alabama School of Alcohol and Other Drug Studies Conference in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

I consider it to be a privilege to be invited into my clients’ inner lives, and to travel the journey with them through healing, change, and self-empowerment.

Licensed Counselor & Practice Owner

Chesie has had the opportunity to work with opiate dependent, specifically, intravenous heroin users. This area of counseling unique is that it can be extremely complicated and severe. This intensive experience has provided her with the needed skills and proven successful track record to counsel individuals with the most severe problems in virtually every aspect of life.

Chesie relies on Solution Focused Therapy (SFT), particularly when working with substance abuse, mental health, and major life disruptions. SFT therapy sessions typically focus on the present and future, and focus on the past only to the degree necessary for communicating empathy and understanding of the client’s concerns. She works to help clients identify positive directions for change in their lives and to help client’s construct a concrete vision of a preferred future for themselves. Chesie works with a wide range of issues, including depression, anxiety, other mental health disorders, unresolved emotional issues, self-esteem/self-empowerment, grief and loss, relationship/family concerns, individual counseling for personal an emotional growth, creating more meaning and purpose in one’s life/living a more fulfilled life, and multiple other issues (please see, “Services Available,” link, for additional areas of therapeutic expertise).
